Preparatory works for assembling of equipment and installation of filters in the Sinter Plant facility of ArcelorMittal Zenica have started.

In this way, the implementation phase of the project for reconstruction of electro filters No. 4 and its reconnection to the sinter machine no. 5 has started, as part of the primary de-dusting of sinter machine no. 5.

The project is worth over 6 million KM (3 mill €), and its aim is to reduce dust emissions from the sinter machine number 5. below 50 mg / Nm3, which is the legal limit. The project has the potential to achieve dust emissions below 30 mg / Nm3.

In August last year, company ArcelorMittal Zenica signed the contract for execution of this important project for air protection with renowned European company FLSmidth of Denmark, world leader in filtration technology. This technology is already well known and proven technology of filtration in heating plants, thermal power plants and cement plants, and it will allow not only overall reduction of emissions but also dust and fine dust generated in the process of sintering.

On this occasion, the CEO of ArcelorMittal Zenica, Mr. Biju Nair said:
“Despite the extremely challenging business conditions, caused by the crisis in the global steel market, which appeared in late 2015 and are still ongoing, ArcelorMittal Zenica has made maximum efforts to realize this project as it was originally conceived. In the period since signing of the contract so far the project design and construction of parts of the filter were made, but these days the delivery of this equipment has started. At the same time, on the site of the Sinter Plant, assembling of tower cranes to be used for the dismantling of the existing equipment and the installation of new components of the filter has started. So far 80% of the equipment is delivered and we believe that the rest of the project will go according to plan.”

Start of the assembling of equipment for the new filter itself should begin on August 1 this year, and start of operation of the filter is planned by the end of November this year.

The project, which is underway at the Sinter Plant facility is part of the total invested 95 million that the company ArcelorMittal Zenica invested in environmental projects so far.
