“Sustainability has to be a priority – ultimately it is about building a better and stronger future both for ArcelorMittal and for society.” Mr Lakshmi Mittal, ArcelorMittal Chairman and CEO.
ArcelorMittal Zenica is part of a global company that places Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at the heart of everything it does. We are proud of the vital role that steel plays in all our lives, but at the same time we acknowledge the impact that our operations can have on the environment and local communities. The company is dedicated to improving its performance in these areas in every possible way.
Here in Zenica, our steel plant has a long and unique history, which along with the local geography presents many special challenges as we work together to build a long-term, sustainable future for steelmaking in this historic industrial city. Since the factory’s restart of the integral route, in 2008, we have focused strongly on improving our health and safety record and long-term investments in new technology to reduce our emissions footprint. Work in these important areas will continue.
Unlike most other steel plants around the world, ArcelorMittal Zenica is an integral part of the fabric of the city that has grown up around it since 1892. Our strong commitment to supporting local initiatives in Education, Health, Sport and Culture and Community development in general reflects our close partnership with the community in which we all live and work.
